Sydex Defender
The Sydex Defender is an inline grinder that reduces solids to a small, manageable size before they reach your pumps. Fitted on the inlet side, it removes the risk of blockage, backflow and premature wear. An optional PLC panel reverses the grinder to clear jams and can stop the pumps for added protection.
Overview
Maintaining effective flow and preventing pump damage is notoriously difficult when handling fluids with a high level of solids or suspended material. Installing a Sydex Defender grinder on the inlet side reduces particles to a small, manageable size — eliminating the risk of blockage, backflow, premature wear and pump damage. Because flow is not dependent on pressure, it's an ideal solution when fitted to the pump suction pipework, protecting your pumps and plant from damage and downtime.
The Defender can be supplied with an optional control panel. Fitted with a PLC controller and current sensors, the automatic control reverses the grinder if material causes a jam (such as a high-tensile bolt), and can be programmed to stop the pumps for further protection.
The Defender offers high cutting performance and is built to last, with support feet and bolt holes for fast, secure installation, a wide range of connection fittings for cost-effective integration, and maximum reliability from a low-speed, high-torque Sumitomo cycloidal gearbox. It handles flow rates up to 200 m3/h (880 USGPM) and is available in 3 models. Typical applications include solids reduction upstream of pumps, wastewater, recycling and waste, and biogas, making it a strong fit across Wastewater Treatment, Recycling & Waste and Biogas.
