Shaftless Screw Conveyors
Sydex shaftless screw conveyors transfer dry sludge and bulk solids with minimal maintenance. With no centre shaft and no bottom-end bearings or seals, the only moving part in contact with the product is the screw itself. They can be mounted horizontally or inclined, with materials matched to the product.

Overview
Sydex shaftless screw conveyors are designed to transfer materials such as dry sludge efficiently, with minimal maintenance and maximum reliability. The spiral rotates inside a trough at inclinations up to 30°. To reduce maintenance costs, the gearbox connects directly to the shaftless spiral above the discharge point — so the only moving part in contact with the product is the screw itself, eliminating the need for expensive bearings or mechanical seal arrangements. Materials and design can be adapted to the properties of the product being conveyed.
The shaftless spiral gives a robust design with no bottom-end bearing, the unit can be mounted horizontally or inclined, and bolted trough covers keep maintenance simple. Conveyors are available in diameters from 150 to 500 mm, at inclinations of 0–15 or 0–30 degrees, with standard or reinforced spirals, lengths of 0–20 m or 0–30 m, capacities from 0.8 to 45 m3/h, power from 0.55 to 5.5 kW and a speed of 29 rpm. Typical applications include wastewater (sludge, slaughterhouse waste, ashes and metal grindings), food (grain, powder, salt, flour and meal), paper and pulp (fibre sludge, wood chips, bark and screenings) and fuels (wood chips, straw, sawdust, peat, pellets and carbon), spanning the Wastewater Treatment, Food & Drink and Recycling & Waste sectors.
